Project Background
MOBILIA brings 18 years of experience in Dubai’s office furniture market. The company supplies complete office furniture solutions and also supports clients with interior office design.
With a goal of building a world-class furniture brand, MOBILIA combines in-house production with strong international sourcing networks from Central and Eastern Europe to the Far East. Local assembly in the UAE helps the team meet tight timelines and respond quickly to last-minute demand for office furniture and sofas.
In 2019, MOBILIA took on a Dubai World Expo project. Drawing on its long sales experience and project design plans from the organizing committee, MOBILIA sourced the required furniture and connected with Xusheng Furniture.
Design Inspiration
Based on the office design drawings provided by the buyer, Jones Chou focused on creating furniture that balances modern technology, practicality, and sustainability. The concept also prioritized flexibility, allowing pieces to be moved easily or fixed in place as needed, so users could adjust layouts to match changing requirements.
As communication with the client progressed, it became clear the project needed both advanced functional accessories and modular combinations. In line with the event theme, “Communicate ideas and create the future,” and its sub-themes, “Opportunity, sustainability, mobility,” the team developed a series of office furniture sets that are flexible, convenient, and eco-friendly. Solution
Partitions
Traditional partition panels typically use adjustable feet. In Jones Chou’s design, Xusheng Furniture explored movable and transformable structures, replacing adjustment feet with universal caster wheels.
This upgrade made each unit easier to reposition and helped buyers quickly reconfigure the venue layout for different exhibition formats. The result was smoother setup, better space use, and greater day-to-day convenience when moving it.It
Break Room Tables and Chairs
The lounge furniture design emphasized innovation, comfort, and sustainability while reflecting the cultural identity of participating countries. For example, the German pavilion highlighted sustainable strategies informed by local climate conditions.
That approach influenced rest-area furniture choices, including environmentally friendly materials, energy-saving features, and ergonomic details to improve user comfort.
Office Furniture Sets
Desk designs incorporated modern technology, such as integrated wireless charging cable boxes, so devices could charge without disrupting desktop cleanliness or daily workflow. Hardware components for desks and chairs used recyclable or biodegradable materials to reduce environmental impact.
Because the World Expo is a global platform for cultural exchange, the furniture also included international design references through patterns, colors, and material selections inspired by different countries.
